September Super Clinics Countdown
I'm so excited about our Super Clinics month of September at Maplewood!
We begin with our fifth year of Young Horse Trainer School, September 5-10. Lead clinicians from around the world include Jose Alejos from Guatemala, Linda Allen from Guadalajara, Mexico, Mauricio Benevente from Santiago, Chile, as well as Kevin Winkel and myself. This school is already full with participants and young horses. This is always a fascinating week of learning from the horses as well as each other!
We continue with our inaugural Sport Horse Conformation Seminar, September 11-12. World renowned veterinarian Danny Marks will be present. He was the United States Equestrian Team veterinarian for decades for our Olympic Games teams, and we are so fortunate to have him! Dr. Chrysann Collatos will join him, with talks on anatomy and mechanics of the gaits. I will be providing the Hunter Breeding judges material, and we'll all participate in the live judging of the young horses in hand. Participants who complete this course receive continuing education credit for the USEF Hunter Breeding Judges license requirements. This seminar is open to all interested horsemen of all breeds and disciplines, and is filling up fast!
Next, we have a Course Design School, September 12-14 with Linda Allen and Chris Collman as lead clinicians. This school is open to trainers, riders, course designers, judges and all interested people who want to learn how to properly set courses, exercises and simple obstacles to encourage correct jumping style, as well as what constitutes technical lines and when to use and not to use them in training and course design. This school also gives credit to USEF Hunter and Jumper Course Designers for their clinic requirements for license maintenance. This school is quite full already, with just a few spots remaining, so don’t wait if you want to reserve a place.
The week concludes with our inaugural Judges School with Scott Hofstetter and myself. The American Quarter Horse Association is endorsing our school, along with Equestrian Canada for their judges. This school is not only for judges but also for trainers, riders and parents who are eager to learn more from the judge’s perspective!
Also on the books for September is our annual Westfalen/RPSI Inspection Tour of our 2017 foals on September 25. This is always a very educational day and open to everyone who is interested.
With all this education under our belts, we'll then be looking forward to October 19-22 when our Adult Ride and Whine Camp takes place! This fun and educational Adult Camp is very popular and nearly full already, so once again don’t delay if this intrigues you!
Can’t wait for fall at Maplewood!!
