Thanks For Checking In
Thanks to everyone for the continuing concerns about our farm and flooding! The horses are dry and well-fed, without a break in their training, thanks to our indoor arena.
Unfortunately, there have been several days where the water has been so high and moving so fast across our lovely Army Corps Of Engineers-designed bridge, that it's impassable. So, clients and lesson students aren’t able to make it to the barn :(
With our alternate roads having been destroyed by the first flood in January, at this time we have no safe access on or off the property, even on foot.
However, chin up! We're looking forward to getting off the property on February 19 when we travel to the new winter circuits produced by West Palms Events in Santa Barbara and Paso Robles. We'll spend four weeks in California soaking up the sun, through mid-March. With 20 horses and riders participating, this will be a welcome vacation, and we're really looking forward to it!
As always, I'm looking forward to spring and summer, which include many fun and educational events at Maplewood.
Our Adult Ride & Whine Camp is one of the most entertaining and educational weekends we have here. Now in its second year, this extremely popular camp is slated twice yearly—spring (May 25-28) and fall (October 19-22). In addition to riding lessons and seminars, the itinerary includes great wining and dining, excursions to Lake Tahoe and Virginia City as well as nutrition and fitness instruction.
Additionally, our Kids Summer Camp is scheduled for June 19-23. Campers spend time learning horsemanship and taking riding lessons while also enjoying the typical camp experiences, such as arts and crafts and swimming. It's one of our most popular annual events and has been ongoing for decades.
Speaking of decades, 2017 marks Maplewood’s 40th year in business! We will have a big party this summer when the wind and flooding stops :)
Thanks for checking in! Until next time!
